HOW IT WORKS

A shared, open engine.

The website, this Space, and Rohingya Reader use the same rule-based converter. It supports Unicode Hanifi letters, digits, vowel length, nasalization and tone marks.

Rohingyalish input is normalized and lowercased. Common punctuation is retained. Conversion warnings appear above; some distinctions are simplified without a warning.

Current limitations
  • Tana and harbahay share the acute-accent output.
  • Sakin is omitted; kinna wa and kinna ya simplify to w and y.
  • Some alternative Latin spellings do not round-trip.
  • Old font encodings, images and PDFs are outside the converter’s scope.

Automated tests check engine behavior, rather than linguistic accuracy.
